"The Richland Early Learning Co-op (ELC) has been a blessing to me and the lives of my two daughters. I attended ELC for four years with my daughters and there were significant benefits for me and my children. For me, I was able to learn to parent a much more effective way than I was parented as a child. This changed our lives for the better as I was able to approach my children from a loving, empathetic and understanding perspective through respecting their feelings, meeting them at their emotional level and listening as opposed to the traditional, “get over it”, punishment and shaming mentality that I was used to. My children were in a safe, stimulating and developmentally appropriate environment with children their same age and this allowed them to learn and thrive at a young age. This program is unique compared to others because of the wholistic focus on parent teaching, young childhood education through play and the promotion of a culture of caring and kindness for all. The teachers of this program, Dani and Stephanie, are constantly learning and seeking out evidenced based methods of childhood development techniques to incorporate into their curriculum and are always trying to improve the program.
